■ Story

A young girl was walking with her dog.
However, the dog was involved in an accident as a result of her carelessness, and disappeared somewhere.
Her older sister, who saw her return home with an empty leash, went out in search of the dog.
When her sister doesn’t return, the young girl who was left alone leaves the house and goes out into the eerie night of the town, which is completely different from how it looks during the day.

After the dog was in an accident and goes missing, the protagonist’s older sister rushes out to the town to find him. But the older sister doesn’t return home, and now both her and the dog’s whereabouts are unknown.
■ Outline

The young girl will visit a variety of places while looking for her missing sister and dog. Many places are covered in darkness and will require she use her trusty flashlight to proceed.
Move throughout the Town with your Flashlight in Hand – In a city covered in darkness, there’s a lot you can’t see without light. Residential fences, telephone poles, and even the trees on the main road have disappeared into the darkness of the night. If there is something worth checking out, shine at it with the flashlight. If you seek out deserted places, where someone would likely hide, you might be able to find clues about your missing sister and dog.
See the Town at Night – A town that’s popular during the day becomes quiet at night, and has a different, eerier atmosphere. There are also places you can enter precisely because it’s nighttime.
Terror Lurks in the Darkness – There is a strange “terror” lurking in the darkness of the night. In the dark streets, black figures stand still under the roadside street lights. And you might suddenly feel the presence of someone behind you. If you hit these with light, you might see their true colors, but they might be “dangerous things.”

Yomawari details exploration, items, and ghosts

Nippon Ichi Software has shared new details about Yomawari, its upcoming PS Vita game about a girl looking for her lost dog and older sister in a nighttime town.
If you missed it, first details about the title came out earlier this month.
Today’s update further details the girl’s exploration of the nighttime town, including some of the items and ghosts she’ll come across, and how to evade them.
Get the information below.
■ Game Flow
Leave your house in the dead of the night, into the nighttime town. Explore the city in search of clues for your missing dog and older sister. The game progresses based on your discoveries and events.
When you complete your search for that day, you’ll advance to the next night. You can catch up on events that happened previous nights by reading your Diary.
■ Exploration

Various things are lined up along the road and roadside. The majority of these things are covered in darkness, but can be seen through the shine of a flashlight. Sometimes there will also be fallen items that appear. That said, it’s important to proceed with your search with your flashlight shining.

As you explore, a question mark might appear above the girl’s head. Question marks indicate things that there are things in the girl’s vicinity that can be examined. As you approach them, the question mark will change into an exclamation point, allowing you to examine whatever it may be. When you’re near the target, press circle to examine it and you could pick up someone’s “Lost Property.”
■ Finding Items
Items you find during your search can be picked up and carried. There are various items you can find, ranging from a “Stone” lying on the side of the road to someone’s “Lost Property.”
Stone – These are commonplace on the roadside. You can throw them or use them as landmarks.
Money – These coins are required in certain places. They can be found all over the town.
Shovel – A shovel forgotten somewhere by some child. It can be used at specific locations, such as in sand.
■ Expanding Your Search Range
Using items you acquire, you’ll be able to expand your search range to areas you couldn’t access at the beginning of the game, moving forward to complete the scenario. These are a couple of the areas you’ll visit:
Residential Area
The area where the girl lives. Even though it’s something she’s used to seeing, it’s awfully eerie at night.

Abandoned Factory
The abandoned factory is blockaded. Your search will take you not only throughout the town, but also outside the town.

■ The Things That Come Out at Night

The streets are lurking with terrible “dangers.” Under the streetlights along the roadside, for example, you might see black silhouettes. Ghosts will haunt the streets in a variety of forms. Many are malicious and hostile, and will attack the girl upon seeing her.
They include:
Streetlight Shadow
A shadow in the shape of a person that stands under the streetlight. Though it looks like a man, it is clearly something other than human.

Child’s Soul
A soul of a child that lost its life in an accident. It laughs with its giant mouth.

Road Blocker
A large creature with big eyes, a big mouth, and spider-like legs that creeps along the road.

■ Heart Rate System

If a ghost is nearby, the girl’s pulse will speed up and the screen will throb with the sound of her heart beat. While you can hear her heart beat, you cannot run fast and some actions are limited. There are some types of ghosts that you can’t usually see, so be careful if you start to hear her heart beat.
Hiding
gematsu.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Yomawari_07-16-15_010.jpg
You can hide from ghosts in places like clumps of bushes and under signboards. While hidden, the screen is darker and your field of vision is narrowed, but because the ghost’s position will flicker in time with her heart beat, you’ll be able to know its approximate location.
Evading
If the girl is caught by a ghost, she won’t be able to advance to the next night. For every attack a ghost throws out, there is a way to evade it. Monsters become visible by shining them with light. When it comes to evading them, be sure to start there.
