Ys VIII introduces Raksha and Sahad New details from the latest Dengeki PlayStation. The latest issue of Dengeki PlayStation introduces two new characters set to join Adol Christin on his adventures in Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. Raksha
19 years old. She uses a rapier in battle. She is the daughter of the noble Roswell family of Garman, and as a noble conducts herself politely. While confused by the lifestyle of the Drifting Village, she works with Adol and company using her profound knowledge of ancient ruins, and plants and animals. In battle she is fast and has good reach, but since she can’t target many enemies at once, she finds herself in trouble when surrounded.
Staff Comment: The Garman area is located in the northeastern part of the Romun Empire, and many of its people are made of fortitude and vigor. This is the first time Raksha is meeting Adol and company. By taking advantage of her reach, you can follow up a preemptive attack with consecutive attacks.
Sahad
41 years old. He uses an anchor in battle. He is a fisherman from the Greek area and has a lovable personality. He works with Adol in order to return to his hometown where his family is waiting. He has high attack power and can attack many enemies at once, but has open spots.
Staff Comment: When it comes to playable characters in the Ys series, he is the oldest. He was a passenger on the same boat as Adol.
Adol
(Adol has already been detailed.)
Staff comment: He’s the balanced character in battle.
System
Attacks have three attributes: “Slash,” “Shoot,” and “Strike.”
When you attack your enemy’s weak point, they’ll “Break” and all attributes will damage it.
Staff Comment: The Break system has an exhilarating feeling about it. We’re planning parts of the game that use the PS Vita touch screen. There is a possibility that Adol and friends will be wiped out by an Ancient attack. Ancients are completely different creatures from dragons and have no connection to the Five Dragons of Altago. Also, the jump action and switching between characters may seem similar to Tokyo Xanadu, but in this game, all of your party members appear on screen.
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is due out for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in Japan this summer.

Ys VIII details attack attributes, Break system "Break" the enemy to make it weak against every attribute. Falcom has released new Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana information and screenshots introducing the game’s battle system attack attribute and break elements. ■ Attack Attributes
Character weapons have three attack types: “Slash,” “Strike,” and “Shoot.” The amount of damage dealt by the weapon increases or decreases based on its compatibility with the enemy, so it’s best to switch between characters while fighting in order to deal sufficient damage to the enemy.
(1) Slash
The slash-the-enemy-with-a-sword-type attack attribute. These exhibit tremendous power against soft-bodied enemies that absorb impacts.
—Adol’s Weapon: Sword (Slash)
Fight with an orthodox fighting style with the one-handed sword. Although there are no protruding elements, its power and speed are above standard and easy to handle, allowing players to deal with various situations.
(2) Strike
An impact-the-enemy-type attack attribute. Deal a large amount of damage to the enemies with hard shell-like armor by inflicting direct blows.
—Sahad’s Weapon: Anchor (Strike)
Attack surrounding enemies with a huge anchor. On one hand, you’re liable to be left with a weak spot swinging so big, but enemies in the area will get caught in your powerful attack.
(3) Shoot
A long-reaching, long-distance-type attack attribute. Compared to Slash and Strike, its power is weaker, but allows you to aim for agile enemies such as flying types.
—Raksha’s Weapon: Rapier (Shoot)
Attack frontward enemies with high-speed thrusts with the thin rapier. The speediest of the three character weapons, it has considerable speed and focuses its attack area frontward, so this makes Raksha weak to blind spot attacks and puts her in a pinch when surrounded by enemies.
■ Break (New System)
By attacking an enemy with an attribute they’re weak to and dealing a certain amount of damage, they’ll enter a “Break” state. In the Break state, the enemy’s weakness attribute is eliminated, and all three attack attributes—Slash, Strike, and Shoot—will deal a great amount of damage. Additionally, the Break state invokes things such as as enemies dropping rare items and flying-type enemies no longer being able to fly, so there are a variety of benefits.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana Will Have Two ProtagonistsBy Sato . February 23, 2016 . 3:30am www.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/20160223_044245.pngFalcom revealed in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine that their upcoming PS4 and PS Vita action RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will have an additional protagonist to go with Adol. [Thanks, Hachima.] The character in question is “Dana,” the mysterious blue-haired girl that appears in Adol’s sleep. While Adol dreams, he’ll get to relive her life and experience it for himself. Dana is said to have more power and speed than the veteran hero Adol. As an interesting twist, what happens in Dana’s story while Adol experiences in his dreams will influence what happens in his own adventure. Again, Adol’s existence seems to be recognized in Dana’s part of the story, so actions that Adol takes will also influence Dana’s story. Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will release in Japan in summer 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. ■ Character
In addition to Adol Christin, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana has a second protagonist. Introducing the mysterious girl named Dana.
Dana (age unknown)
Weapon: Half-Moon Swords | Attack Attribute: Slash
“Fiery red hair…. Who was that person, I wonder?”
A mysterious, blue-haired girl who appears in Adol’s dreams. Contrary to her lovely appearance, her actions are often bold and imaginative, and can even surprise those around her.
She has never seen the Eresia continent, and seems to live in an area that possesses a very advanced civilization. Players will experience the life of this girl through Adol’s dreams, but…
—Attack Attribute: Slash
Dana uses two, highly curved, crescent moon swords, and twists her body while quickly slashing and delivering one attack after the next. With her agile speed, the slashes brought forth by her rotational power exceeds even the offensive ability of Adol.
■ System Introduction (Dual Protagonists Adol and Dana)
In Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, Dana joins Adol as a second protagonist.
There’s Adol, who lives the washed-ashore life on The Isle of Seiren…
…and Dana, who players will control and whose story will develop in Adol’s dreams.
But just who is Dana? Why does she only show up in Adol’s dreams? And what is the truth hidden on The Isle of Seiren? Through Adol and Dana’s stories, all will gradually be revealed.
