Site atual do Nehrim: sureai.net/games/nehrim/
Before the game starts Narathzul Arantheal, Merzul and Barateon tried to rebel against the Lightborn (The 7 Gods of Vyn. In reality they are only very powerful and immortal sorcerers though. Erodan, Tyr the Creator, Esara, Irlanda, Malphas, Morala and Saldrin). Narathzul managed to kill Erodan, who ruled over the country of Nehrim. However, he was then beaten and imprisoned by the other Lightborn. He and Merzul were betrayed by Barateon who in turn became Chancellor of Nehrim.
The player starts out as a member of an Abbey. One day he receives a letter from Merzul who tells him that he has the potential to use magic (which is outlawed in Nehrim, due to Barateon trying to suppress any revolt attempts). Thus he joins The Order. Its Merzul's organization and their goal is to free Narathzul and kill the Lightborn. After some quests and getting close with the members The Order is attacked by Chancellor Barateon and Merzul is killed. After that the player works together with the rest of The Order some other Rebels and finds out the location of Narathzul's prison. Then he frees him. Afterwards he helps him recover the Soul Flayer (a sword that has the power to kill the Lightborn). The next step is to take Nehrim's capital and kill Barateon. Now the stage is set to go and kill the Lighborn. Narathzul and the Player manage to take down 4 of them (Esara, Morala, Saldrin and Malphas). When they try to kill Tyr and Irlanda it is revealed that Narathzul is actually the son of Irlanda and Tealor. That is relevant because of the prophecy of the Shadow God. Let's just say for convoluted reasons Narathzul can't become the Shadow God anymore and that leads to Arkt (another Shadow God) killing him. Tyr and Irlanda escape (even though Irlanda later commits suicide, because of the fate her son suffered). This leaves the player with no choice but to become the Shadow God of Nehrim himself. He chases Tyr to Inodan and absorbs/kills him, fulfilling the prophecy. Then Fate also known as Sarantha wants to kill the Shadow God in order to restore balance to the world. Long story short the Player kills Fate and frees men from predestination. The rest of the story doesn't really matter too much.
Basically what you should take away from this: Nehrim takes place 2 years before Enderal. The Shadow God who killed the Lightborn was the Player in Nehrim. Narathzul Arantheal is the son of Tealor Arantheal and Irlanda (by the way, as all the souls of people who either wielded or get killed by the Soul Flayer get absorbed by it Narathzul is still alive inside the sword). The Shadow God should in theory also still be alive. Malphas who is is the most worshiped Lightborn on Enderal is dead.
